Florida Man Arrested for Traveling to Western New York for Sex with Minor from Niagara Falls

In a horrifying case highlighting the potential dangers of social media, a Florida man has been arrested for traveling to Western New York with the intention of having sex with a minor from Niagara Falls. Federal prosecutors have charged 21-year-old Jose Tehovnik with multiple offenses, including enticement of a minor, production, receipt, and possession of child pornography.

The Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of New York has provided details of the charges against Tehovnik. According to officials, the accused initiated contact with a girl from Niagara Falls on Instagram in February. The conversation then moved to Snapchat, where the nature of their communication took a disturbing turn.

"During these conversations, Tehovnik and the victim exchanged naked images, which included child pornography of the victim, and Tehovnik made plans to travel to the Western District of New York," stated a news release from the U.S. Attorney's office.

In April, Tehovnik flew from Florida to New York with the intention of engaging in sexual activity with the minor. It is unknown if he was successful doing so during this trip.

However, on Tuesday June 4th he returned to New York, picked up the girl, and traveled to New Jersey. It was there that members of law enforcement, including the FBI and the Niagara Falls Police Department, apprehended Tehovnik and rescued the victim. The accused was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

If convicted, Tehovnik could face a sentence ranging from five years to life in prison.

The FBI and the Niagara Falls Police Department have been working tirelessly to investigate this matter and ensure that justice is served. Their swift action in apprehending Tehovnik and rescuing the victim is commendable and highlights the dedication of law enforcement in safeguarding our communities.

As this case unfolds, it is crucial for parents and guardians to remain vigilant when it comes to their children's online activities. It is essential to educate young individuals about the potential risks and to establish open lines of communication to address any concerns or suspicious behavior.

We will provide updates on the case as it progresses through the legal process.
