Happy Monday Everyone!

Wanted to say "Happy Birthday" to Cindy!!!! Hope your day was wonderful. Hope you went out to dinner and saw a movie and you were able to celebrate you!

Winter finally arrived....and it is about time! I can't say if that means "Spring" may come early this year but if it does it will be a very Welcomed sight. I can take the snow or leave it...really! I'll have to say honestly, I loved it alot more when I was younger....lol!

If there is anything you would like to see this year as far as graphics go let me know and I will see what I can do. Will be making more Free Calendar Wallpapers soon! Till then enjoy the time you have with your family & friends and truly know how precious that time truly is.

I have recently just rented two of the best movies I have ever seen in a very long time....They are called, "Fireproof" and "Courageous", outstanding movies. If you get a chance to watch them ..... do it!!!! Bring plenty of tissues. Take care and God Bless!

A Quiet Sunday!

Hope everyone is doing fine today....our weather outside looks like spring is trying to break out....wish that was so! But we all know we really haven't had a winter at all, so till it actually comes I will enjoy this gorgeous weather outside.

Took a picture with my camera after Christmas of My husband Mike, my grand-daughter Desiree and my grandson Ryan. Turned out pretty good.

Well when I say it is a quiet Sunday, I truly mean it is a quiet Sunday! Desiree went to spend the night with her Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Jill.....and isn't home yet....Aunt Jill and her rented a movie and then Desiree is going to paint Aunt Jill's nails. Desiree does wonderful nails. Ryan played with Grandpa most of the morning so I could get some sleep....and now Ryan is down for a nap and Grandpa is playing with his PS2. So the house is really quiet....plus I am almost done making my iced pumpkin cookies.

I picked up my new glasses on Friday....what a welcomed sight they were....I did not realize how bad my eyes had gotten over the last three years. Well I can see now and it sure seems good. Hope everyone enjoys your week. Stay safe and happy! Bless you's!

My grand-daughter Desiree and I after my last chemo/radiation treatment....I look really tired in this pic....but I am rested up a little more now. And with my wig the nurses say I look great!!!! Course that is with some make-up on too! I will have to take a pic and show ya's.

Anyhow, went to see the Chemo Dr. the other day, he said my scan looked good, and I said, "Oh so does that mean I am the one in five!" And he said "NOTHING!!!!" I go okay that hesitation was way to long! He said after five years of not needing treatment you will be. Oh really, well if I don't have to come back for a scan and to see you till March....How will I know if the cancer has moved somewhere else? And his reply was....."Oh you'll know!!!!!!!" I said, "What does that mean!" And again I asked him, how will I know because I am not one to go to the doctors!!!!! And again he says without looking at me both times, "Oh you will know!!!!!" Finally the nurse goes if anything feels different to you or you have pain just call us and we will get you in here. So take it as you will that is what I was told.....I should have grabbed my neighbor Bob to go with me instead of going alone. Just seems so unfair that I have had to go through this alone, well okay except for the times my neighbor Bob, God Bless him, came and watched Ry for me or Jenn came with me, Oh and Desiree came to a Chemo session with me once when she didn't have to go to school that day. My husband has had to work he is the only one in our family supporting all of us....and well no work no money no pay bills,,,,,,Everyone that is there has tons of family with them that cares about their loved one with cancer and it just hurts to think.... forgive me cause I haven't complained about anything since I found out I had cancer and I don't know why I am complaining now besides I have had God with me all the way so I guess I have never really been alone. What more do I need, it worked for me my faith that is and it always has and always will....My Lord has never forsaken me!

These are the snow people I painted a few years ago, they fit perfect out in our big front window, they are my favorite of all the paintings I have done. They look so in love don't they?

Well I received a call from my grandson's school last week and again this week....I tell ya that boy is heading for trouble and I don't know what to do to help him. He is in fifth grade and he is a big boy....but he has a lot of ATTITUDE!!!! He has now been suspended from school till school gets back in session after the holidays! Going to pray for this one!!!!!!

Let It Snow!

Hello...wow...it snowed yesterday and it was awesome!!!! Desiree, Ryan and I all went outside and made a little snowman, just about Ryan's size. He loves everything about Christmas and isn't afraid to show his excitement!!!!

Well I thought I had Chemo on the 7th but I was wrong..I called the Infusion Center and they said, "No, but I do have to have a "Cat Scan" done next week and then I see the Dr. the following week.

Was horribly sick over this past weekend, while Mike, Desiree and Ryan had sinus problems...I had dizziness and vomiting well more like severe dry heaves....It was horrible. Not sure if it is because of my cancer or something that I had caught from the three of them.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my Mom, Cindy, Larry & Grandma for all the wonderful gifts I was sent for my birthday...God Bless You All!!!!!

Just Catching You Up

Brrrrrrr....Baby it's cold outside!

It was 28 degrees out this morning.....that is cold! I am not a fan of the cold...but I love the snow, figure that one out...lol..

Well next week we celebrate Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving...can you believe it!!!!! I also get to celebrate my birthday the same day....some may think that it is cool to celebrate your birthday on a holiday...but it isn't! I only like celebrating my birthday on a holiday so that the hussel and bussel of the holiday makes me forget all about my birthday!!!!!! Now that is coooooool don't you think...I do!!!!!

Well as of the 21st of November I am done with the radiation on the brain....in fact I was told I was done with radiation all together...and even if I wanted more I would not be getting any more!!!!! Now I guess the results of brain radiation takes a long long time to see results.....and the awful side effects that come along with treatments!!! The Dr. tells me my hair will never grow back, radiation does not treat hair follicles kindly....I could loose anywhere from 2 to 10 points off my IQ......I will get extremely tired.....will be sick to my stomach or vomiting....may get headaches.....all I know is that it will take anywhere from one to two years to see the serious affects of this treatment.

The worst part of this radiation so far was when they fitted the mesh mask over your face...felt like a warm wash cloth....and then it became tighter and tighter until you felt like you were being buried alive.....kid you not....when it was fitted to your face and head they marked the spots exactly where you would be scanned with the radiation next time you came for treatment.....I had an anxiety attack when they put the mask on and screwed it to the table....I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe....finally I thought of somewhere else I would rather be, slowed my breathing down, way down....and waited for the treatment to be over......My prayers and thoughts go out to every little child who has ever had to go through cancer treatments....God Bless You, If I sound like I am complaining please forgive me!

I head for another round of "Chemo" in early December for three days....not sure what is up after that but will keep you informed....To my family and friends ~ I love you all!!!!!

Speaking of friends....my bestest friend of all.....beckie...sent me a silver heart necklace through the mail the other day....and put both of our precious angles pictures inside so that they can watch over me....God Bless YOU my Dear Friend!!!!!!!

Oh, by the way, my grandchildren's report cards came this week......WOW!!!!!!!! Talk about smart kids.....WOW! Desiree scored in the high 90's all the way down her report card and has a 95 average!!!! Way to go Dez, Way to go!!!!! Zak he scored in the low 90's and 80's on his......WOW!!!!!!!!! Way to go Zak, Way to go!!!!!! Needless to say that Nana & Papa, Ron & Jill & Mom & Dad are all so proud of you both!

Break between treatments!

It is almost the end of October....Where is this year going too! Well for the last couple of weeks I have had a break in treatments......they finished up on the radiation on the tumor in the lung....toward the end of last month....and chemo is done until December!

Today I went for a brain scan to make sure the cancer hasn't spread to the brain, which they thought it hadn't....but needed to be read by another doctor before they would say for sure. So I have to start my radiation on the brain which is a precautionary measure for this cancer. It will be ten days of treatment and that is it! Will let you know how it goes.

Well, it has been a crazy month to say the least.

The 4th I ended up in the ER with a "Chemo Fever!" Was admitted to the hospital for seven days, said my white cells had dropped dangerously low. Was the worse seven days of my life! Couldn't wait to get out of the hospital.

Then my red blood cells had dropped when I went for my Chemo treatment so they gave me my blood transfusion in one arm and chemo in the other, just so I could make it to my radiation treatment on time.

Yesterday they gave me a shot in the arm to keep my bone marrow happy so that my white cell count does not fall low again. Then off to radiation treatment before I went to the dentist....I had two teeth pulled, am on tons of antibiotics to keep from getting a secondary infection. Have about six or seven more radiation treatments to go where they are only targeting the lung and then they are going to target the brain. Cause that is were this particular cancer goes next. This is precautionary and will keep it from going there i guess. Then another round of Chemo in October and then I think they will re-scan me to see were we are at. It is all in "God's Hands!"

Today is the first day of Autumn...enjoy it...I love fall, don't you?

Becoming Your Wrong Decisions

We are not our decisions and no decision is wrong because we made the choice with the information at hand.

Our perception of the traits and characteristics that make us who we are is often tightly intertwined with how we live our life. We define ourselves in terms of the roles we adopt, our actions and in-actions, our triumphs, and what we think are failures. As a result it is easy to identify so strongly with a decision that has resulted in unexpected negative consequences that we actually become that “wrong” decision. The disappointment and shame we feel when we make what we perceive as a mistake grows until it becomes a dominant part of our identities. We rationalize our “poor” decisions by labeling ourselves incompetent decision-makers. However, your true identity cannot be defined by your choices. Your essence—what makes you a unique entity—exists independently of your decision-making process.

There are no true right or wrong decisions. All decisions contribute to your development and are an integral part of your evolving existence yet they are still separate from the self. A decision that does not result in its intended outcome is in no way an illustration of character. Still, it can have dire effects on our ability to trust ourselves and our self-esteem. You can avoid becoming your decisions by affirming that a “bad decision” was just an experience, and next time you can choose differently. Try to avoid lingering in the past and mulling over the circumstances that led to your perceived error in judgment. Instead, adapt to the new circumstances you must face by considering how you can use your intelligence, inner strength, and intuition to aid you in moving forward more mindfully. Try not to entirely avoid thinking about the choices you have made, but reflect on the consequences of your decision from a rational rather than an emotional standpoint. Strive to understand why you made the choice you did, forgive yourself, and then move forward.

A perceived mistake becomes a valuable learning experience and is, in essence, a gift to learn and grow from. You are not a bad person and you are not your decisions; you are simply human.

Well the biopsy results are in: the cancer is limited to my right lung and it is "small cell carcinoma." It is a rare cancer, has only a 15 to 20 percent survival rate. But if I am one out of five who beats it then i won't have it again.

They have started me on a three day once a month Chemo regimen. My first day is 6 hrs. of Chemo treatment, the second day is 2 and a half hours of treatment and the third day is also 2 and a half hours of Chemo.

A little note on: Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is treatment with anti-cancer drugs injected into a vein or taken by mouth. These drugs enter the bloodstream and go throughout the body, making this treatment useful for cancer that has spread (metastasized) to organs beyond the lung. Chemotherapy is usually the main treatment for small cell lung cancer (SCLC).

Doctors give chemotherapy in cycles, with a period of treatment (usually 1 to 3 days) followed by a rest period to allow your body time to recover. Chemotherapy cycles generally last about 3 to 4 weeks, and initial treatment typically is 4 to 6 cycles. Chemotherapy is often not recommended for patients in poor health, but advanced age by itself is not a barrier to getting chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy for SCLC generally uses a combination of 2 drugs. The drug combinations most often used for initial chemotherapy for SCLC are:
• Cisplatin and etoposide
• Carboplatin and etoposide
• Cisplatin and irinotecan
• Carboplatin and irinotecan
• Cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin (Adriamycin), and vincristine

If the cancer progresses during treatment or returns after treatment is finished, different chemotherapy drugs may be tried. The choice of drugs depends to some extent on how soon the cancer begins to grow again. (The longer it takes for the cancer to return, the more likely it is to respond to further treatment.)
• If the cancer progresses during treatment or relapses within 2 to 3 months of finishing treatment, drugs such as topotecan, ifosfamide, paclitaxel, docetaxel, irinotecan, or gemcitabine may be tried.
• If the relapse occurs from 2 to 3 months to 6 months after treatment, topotecan is often the drug of choice. Other drugs that may be tried include irinotecan, the CAV regimen (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and vincristine), gemcitabine, paclitaxel, docetaxel, oral etoposide, or vinorelbine.
• For relapses 6 or more months after treatment, the original chemotherapy regimen may still be effective and can often be tried again.

Possible side effects of chemotherapy

Chemotherapy drugs work by attacking cells that are dividing quickly, which is why they work against cancer cells. But other cells in the body, such as those in the bone marrow (where new blood cells are made), the lining of the mouth and intestines, and the hair follicles, also divide quickly. These cells are also likely to be affected by chemotherapy, which can lead to side effects.

The side effects of chemotherapy depend on the type and dose of drugs given and the length of time they are taken. These side effects can include:
• Hair loss
• Mouth sores
• Loss of appetite
• Nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhea or constipation
• Increased chance of infections (from low white blood cell counts)
• Easy bruising or bleeding (from low blood platelet counts)
• Fatigue (from low red blood cell counts)

These side effects are usually short-term and go away after treatment is finished. There are often ways to lessen these side effects. For example, there are drugs that can be given to help prevent or reduce nausea and vomiting.

Some drugs such as cisplatin, vinorelbine, docetaxel, or paclitaxel can damage nerves. This can sometimes lead to symptoms (mainly in the hands and feet) such as pain, burning or tingling sensations, sensitivity to cold or heat, or weakness. This is called peripheral neuropathy. In most cases this goes away once treatment is stopped, but it may be long lasting in some people. For more information, see our document, Peripheral Neuropathy Caused by Chemotherapy.

You should report this or any other side effects you notice while getting chemotherapy to your medical team so that they can be treated promptly. In some cases, the doses of the chemotherapy drugs may need to be reduced or treatment may need to be delayed or stopped to prevent the effects from getting worse.

I see the Radiation Dr. on this Thursday to set up my schedule seems like this cancer likes to head to the brain next so precautionary measures are to have radiation therapy to the brain, Monday thru Friday for 6 weeks.

A little note on: Radiation therapy

Radiation therapy uses high-energy rays (such as x-rays) or particles to kill cancer cells. External beam radiation therapy (EBRT) delivers radiation from outside the body that is focused on the cancer. This is the type of radiation therapy most often used to treat small cell lung cancer.

In small cell lung cancer (SCLC), radiation therapy may be used in several situations:
• It is most often given at the same time as chemotherapy in limited stage disease to treat the tumor and lymph nodes in the chest. After chemotherapy, radiation therapy is sometimes used to kill any small deposits of cancer that may remain.
• It can be used to shrink tumors to palliate (relieve) symptoms of lung cancer such as bone pain, bleeding, trouble swallowing, cough, shortness of breath, and problems caused by brain metastases.
• In limited SCLC, it is often given to the brain after other treatments, to help reduce the chances that the cancer will spread there. (The brain is a common site of metastasis.) This is called prophylactic cranial irradiation.

Before your treatments start, the radiation team will take careful measurements to find the correct angles for aiming the radiation beams and the proper dose of radiation. Radiation therapy is much like getting an x-ray, but the radiation is more intense. The procedure itself is painless. Each treatment lasts only a few minutes, although the setup time – getting you into place for treatment – usually takes longer.

Most often, radiation treatments as part of the initial treatment for SCLC are given once or twice daily, 5 days a week, for 3 to 7 weeks. Radiation to relieve symptoms and prophylactic cranial radiation are given for shorter periods of time.

Standard (conventional) EBRT isn't used as much as it used to be. Newer techniques help doctors treat lung cancers more accurately while lowering the radiation exposure to nearby healthy tissues. These techniques may offer better chances of increasing the success rate and reducing side effects. Most doctors now recommend using these newer techniques when they are available.

Three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT): 3D-CRT uses special computer programs to precisely map the location of the tumor(s). Radiation beams are shaped and aimed at the tumor(s) from several directions, which makes it less likely to damage normal tissues.

Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT): IMRT is an advanced form of 3D therapy. It uses a computer-driven machine that moves around the patient as it delivers radiation. Along with shaping the beams and aiming them at the tumor from several angles, the intensity (strength) of the beams can be adjusted to minimize the dose reaching the most sensitive normal tissues. This technique is used most often if tumors are near important structures such as the spinal cord. Many major hospitals and cancer centers are now able to provide IMRT.

Possible side effects of radiation therapy

Side effects of radiation therapy might include sunburn-like skin problems and hair loss where the radiation enters the body, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Often these go away after treatment. Radiation might also make the side effects of chemotherapy worse.

Chest radiation therapy may cause some damage to your lungs, which might cause a cough, problems breathing, and shortness of breath. These usually improve after treatment is over, although in some cases the symptoms may not go away completely.

Your esophagus, which is in the middle of your chest, may be exposed to radiation, which could cause a sore throat and trouble swallowing during treatment. This may make it hard to eat anything other than soft foods or liquids for a while.

Radiation therapy to large areas of the brain can sometimes cause memory loss, headaches, trouble thinking, or reduced sexual desire. Usually these symptoms are minor compared with those caused by a brain tumor, but they can reduce your quality of life. Side effects of radiation therapy to the brain usually become most serious 1 or 2 years after treatment.

Only time will tell what is in store and only by the "Grace of God" I go with...this is in HIS hands now! My faith will carry me through.

Congratulations! You've Made It!

According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's probably shouldn't have survived.

Our baby cribs were covered with bright-colored, lead-based paint. We had no child-proof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets, and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets. Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.

As children, we rode in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors!

We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing!

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this. We would leave home in the morning and play all day as long as were back home when the lights came on. No one was able to reach us all day long. No cell phones!

Unthinkable!!! We didn't have PlayStations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games, no 99-channel cable TV, videotape movies, surround sound, personal cell phones, no personal computers or internet chat rooms. We had friends!!! We went outside and found them.

We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were accidents. No one was to blame but us! We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or rang the bell - or just walked in - and talked to them. Some students weren't as smart as others, so they failed a grade and were held back to repeat the same grade. Horrors!!!!

School tests were not adjusted for any reason. Our actions were out own. Consequences were expected. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law. Imagine that!!!

This generation has produced some of the best risktakers and problem-solvers and inventors, ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned to deal with it all. Makes a person wonder what happened to society!!!!

Certainly wasn't "Food Poisoning!"

Had my "Pet Scan" done on Tuesday of last week at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Have to go for my pre-op on this coming Tuesday cause they said my right lung lit up and they have to go in and investigate it so I will have my biopsy done on Friday, hopefully!

My upper right lobe near my air flo has collasped due to the mass they found in my right lung on July 9th during an ER visit. I thought I had food poisoning from some almonds i had ate...lol...guess not!

They will be going down my trachea and take a piece of my lung to see what stage and what cancer it is! I believe they said that they will then start me on chemo & radiation treatments until the tumor has shrunk enough to be surgically removed.

The "Pet Scan" was to make sure that the cancer had not metasticized to other parts of my body and it hasn't, Thank God!

Will post after I have seen my Dr. at Roswell Park again on Tuesday in case there are any updates or changes made! Have a great weekend and God Bless!

Oh my gosh I forgot to wish everyone a "Happy 4th of July!!!!" Well there I just did...der!

Was a very busy month and it went so fast, here we are in the last phase of July already....life doesn't slow down for no one nor should it, you just have to learn to keep up with it!!! I am learning!

We certainly have enjoyed ourselves this summer and still have another month of summer to go....Yippee!!!! Loving life as always hope you are too!

Well it is the weekend already again, wow this week sure went fast! Tonight we rent movies and usually buy pizza and have what we call "family nite!" The grand kids love it!

School will soon be out and to be honest I am really excited about that! I love it when the grand-kids are home from school. We always find things to do that are fun. We take walks, ride our bikes, you know all the fun stuff that kids love to do OUTSIDE....lol!!!! I am not one to have a child just sit at the computer or video games all day long....nope, outside we go, cause that is where the REAL FUN is!!!!

Oh what a beautiful day it is outside today! Lawn is mowed, the front porch and back room are swept, the house is clean and the laundry is done. Two of the grandkids, Dez and Zak are watching a movie on the laptop and RyRy is taking a nap. My hubby Mike is cleaning out the fish pond and getting it ready for the fish and plants.

What more could you ask for!

Thank you Lord!

Please say prayers for all those who have lost their loved ones along with all those who have been devastated with loss of house/homes, jobs and entire towns swept away during the awful storms through out the country. My heart is heavy with sorrow for all of them.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I had a dream. I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and across the skies flashed scenes from my life. In each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One was mine, and one was the Lord's. When the last scene of my life appeared before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand, and, to my surprise, I noticed that many times along the path of my life there was only one set of footprints. Today is my Mom's Birthday!!! We went down to see her on Saturday and to help her anyway we could. It was so great seeing my Mom, We hadn't been able to get away since last August. That was the last time we were down to see my Mom. With having custody of my three grandchildren it is really hard to just get up and go like we used to. We love you Mom! God, I thank you for this day.

I know I have not accomplished as yet all you expect of me, and if that is your reason for bathing me in the fresh dew of another dawn, I am most grateful.

Merry Christmas (Belated) and a Safe and Happy New Year to everyone!

Haven't been on the computer in a couple of days. Hope everyone had many blessings and a lot of Joy at this blessed time of year and may it spread through out the year. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

My brother Bill and his wife Heather made it to my Mom's for Christmas, my mom had been seriously ill the beginning of this month and so she didn't want to leave Bath to come to Niagara Falls for Christmas so Bill made the trip to be with her. He left Sunday morning to go back home, I pray they returned home safely to Albany. Didn't hear from my brothers Bob and Kev, Hope they had a great Christmas as well!

My three grandchildren, Dez 13, Zach 10 and Ryan 21mos have been with us since last November (I have had custody of them) and they just loved Christmas this year.

It has been by the grace of GOD we have been so richly blessed through out this year and have made it through many many hard times.

Can you believe it, we are halfway through October already….Wow! Where has this year gone to…unbelievable!

It is soon going to be Halloween……and they already have Christmas items up in the stores. I have to say though I love hearing the Christmas music so it doesn’t really matter to me if it is up in the stores….I would love having Christmas last all year through…it is my favorite time of the year. What is yours?

Here are my two youngest grandchildren playing together…aren't they adorable. Kaylee is on the left and Ryan is on the right. They played together on Ryan’s brother Zachary’s 10th birthday Sept. 26th. I never saw two children get along so lovingly as these two did, especially when they haven’t even seen each other in a while. Really wish I had had a camcorder that day to capture the love between these two. They were so kind to each other, sharing their toys and snacks.

Below is Zachary on the left and his friend Chester on the right. Zachary had a great Birthday.

Below are Desiree, Ryan and Zachary just a couple of weeks ago. I am so proud of these three, they have grown so much in this last year and in so many ways. God Bless them all.

Don’t forget October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Hope you have scheduled your exam.

Well this month has been full of meetings, appointments and such….Oh yeah not to mention my husband Mike celebrated a birthday (he doesn’t really want me to mention any numbers here though….lol) And two days later we celebrated our 16th Wedding Anniversary….which was AWESOME!!!!! Thanks honey….it was a great time!

Well this is the most I have written in my blog in quite a while. I am using Windows Live Writer for the first time so we will see how well this works or not. Hope you all have a great day and look back here soon for a Free November Wallpaper and a Quick-page.

Okay I couldn't get Windows Live Writer to publish so I had to come back into my blog online to write this. Really was hoping it would work, but because it didn't I just removed it off my computer. Anyone else have that problem I would love to hear how you fixed it!

In life, we all have to deal with the unexpected. Just because we're believers, just because we're good people or doing the right thing doesn't make us exempt from trouble. The scripture says, "The rain falls on the just and the unjust." In times when something unexpected happens, or you find yourself facing a crisis, you don't have to go into "panic mode" or fall apart emotionally. Remember, that crisis is no surprise to God. It may be unexpected to you, but God knows the end from the beginning. He has solutions to problems that you haven't even had. He has equipped you for every battle, and He goes before you making your crooked places straight.

Today, focus on the fact that He is with you. Remember that He is walking with you and guiding you to a place of peace and victory. No matter what has happened, He will take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it around for your good! He always leads us in victory, so keep moving forward trusting in the good plan He has for you!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Memorial Day is our chance to remember and reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and to honor their families. Those families pay the price of patriotism every day when a husband, wife, brother, sister, son or daughter is no longer there to share in the joys of our lives.

As important as it is for us, as adults, to understand what Memorial Day is really all about, it’s even more important to make sure the children in our lives understand it as well.

There’s no shortage of places where you can take a youngster and let them see what love of country means. There are memorials for almost every war and every branch of service you can think of and everyone of them conveys what it means to pursue the highest calling.

Summertime is when Hollywood likes to trot out it’s blockbuster action hero movies. This year you have the “A-Team” and “Iron Man.”

That’s make believe. Don’t let your children grow up without teaching them who the real-life heroes are.

Magnets & Mothers

A teacher gave her class of second-graders a lesson about the magnet and what it does.

The next day, in a written test, she included this question: "My name has six letters. The first one is m. I pick up things. What am I?"

When the test papers were turned in, the teacher was astonished to find that almost 50% of the students answered the question with the word mother. Yes, mothers do pick up things. But they are much more than "magnets," gathering up clothes and picking up toys around the house.

As willing as many mothers are to do such chores, they have a higher calling thanthat. A good mother loves her family unconditionally and provides an atmosphere where each member can find acceptance, security, and understanding. She is there when the children need a listening ear, a comforting word, a warm hug, or a loving touch on a fevered brow.

And for the Christian mother, her greatest joy is in teaching her children to trust and to love Jesus as their LORD and Savior. That kind of mother deserves to be honored-not just on one special day a year but every day.

And that recognition should involve more than words; it ought to be shown in respect, thoughtfulness, and loving deeds all year through.

God Bless All of the Moms out there on this years "Mother's Day!" May you never cease to see all of the blessings God has given you within each of your children.

Think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve
hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away
from assistance; Think of the paraplegic who would
love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror;
Think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she
had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering
what is life all about, asking what is my purpose?
Be thankful. There are those who didn't live long
enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people's
bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities;
Remember, things could be worse.

You could be one of them!

Also Happy Birthday Wishes go out to my grand-daughter Dez who is turning the terrible teens tommorrow....LOL...just kidding honey!

And my grand-daughter Kaylee just turned a year old last month. She too is so adorable! Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday to you's!

You know I have never seen a year go by so fast in my life. Hope it slows down a little so that we can enjoy my two favorite seasons (Spring & Summer)! Well it is sort of cold and raining here today, tommorrow is supposed to be pretty decent with lots of sunshine. Sure hope so. Everyone have a great day and know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Well Lord, it’s Christmas time again and we are a long way from home ...

We are in a nation, and in a time, that but for the newscasts and the occasional soldier’s funeral, it would be difficult for us to tell that we are at war. Our supermarkets and our bellies are full. While some say that the wars that we fight are unjust, and are about other people’s petroleum, for the most part, our gas tanks are full and our homes are warm.

The U.S. Senate just passed a bill, I think, that, according to Senate Majority Leader Reed, will ensure that 30-million more Americans will have health insurance. That is, at least 30-million more people that live in America will have it. There is a difference, you know, as there is a difference between health insurance and good medical treatment.

And the holiday season is upon us. The single season of the year that is dedicated to someone bringing peace on Earth and good will towards man. Many of us busy ourselves with buying needless gifts for each other. Some of us will send gifts to soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guarders that are far from home. They will feel good when they get them.

Most Americans have never been to war. I have. At least, I have participated in war. I didn’t wade through the rice paddies with an M-16 on my shoulder, or drift down the muddy rivers of Southeast Asia in a loud, slow moving, river patrol boat. Honestly, I watched it from a radarscope on a missile ship that steamed just off the coast of what was then North Vietnam. Despite the heat outside, we wore jackets to stay warm in CIC, where we tracked our bombers flying raids over the cities of Haiphong Harbor and Hanoi. There was always a hot cup of coffee on the bull nose of our consoles. On some nights, when I was not on watch, I would stand on one of the bridge wings outside of the pilothouse, and watch the coastline glow orange with the flames from the fires that the bombing caused. When a fresh round of bombs fell, their white flashes would light the air enough that I could see the black smoke billowing high into the night sky, as if it were a sacrifice to the gods of war.

I was young — 19 years old. I had more testosterone than heart or brains in those days. Back then I was where I wanted to be. But, now I think back on those days, when I stood on the wings of the bridge, watched the bombs fall, and suppressed the sorrow that that deep brewed inside of me for all of those who were dying that night. Today, though I have never seen them before, I constantly see their faces, I see their tears, and I can feel the pain that shredded their hearts as I stood on the bridge wings and watched the sky glow orange.

I was back in San Diego by Christmas, but not back home in Niagara Falls. I don’t think that there are many service people who join and are against all of the travel, and the experiences, that the military offers. Yet I think that, while most appreciate the gifts that you send them, they would rather be home for Christmas, giving, instead of receiving — because, that is what they do.

There is a difference, you know. That is why supermarket shelves, our bellies and our gas tanks are full, and our homes are warm. And why sometimes, some of them die. We are in a nation, and in a time, that but for the newscasts and the occasional soldier’s funeral, it would be difficult for us to tell that we are at war.

I returned from ‘Nam in the same year of my second Christmas away from home. It was not my last. Perhaps I came back with heart. It was then that I wrote the poem, “The Christmas Prayer of a Sailor.” I would like to share it again with you, my readers; and with every soldier, sailor, Marine, airman and Coast Guarder that is walking the wall between freedom and tyranny. I pray that their efforts speed peace on Earth and good will towards mankind; that the glow that they will see when they look out at the horizon will be from warm hearts of people loving each other, and I pray that our forces will be safely home for Christmas next year.

“Well, Lord, it is Christmas-time again,
and I am a long way from home.
I can’t make it back this year,
so that’s another Christmas gone.

I think that I’ll just lie down and rest awhile,
and think of Christmases past;
when love was abundant in the air,
Lord, why couldn’t all of that last.

You know; those crisp, chilly mornings,
but the sun was shining bright; and there
was a glow from every young child’s face
of a very special light.

The house, all filled with that Christmas
smell of fruits and cakes and evergreen;
and presents, all piled under the Christmas tree;
well Lord, you know what I mean.

Being close to those that you love the most --
to those you treasure dear. To see their faces --
those happy faces -- a laugh -- a smile -- a tear.

Well, Lord; this Christmas is all but past and gone,
and there is just one thing that I request:
take me back, back to my own home, so that I won’t
miss Christmas-next.

The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer.

"Lord, I can't go on," he said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear." The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish."

The man was filled with relief. "Thank you, Lord," he sighed, and he did as he was told. Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible.

Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. "I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered. The Lord replied,
"My son, that is the cross you just
brought in."

When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more blessed than you imagined.

Staying Positive!

Trust in Him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us.

Isn’t it amazing to think that the God of all creation wants us to cry out to Him and bring our daily needs to Him? Yet He does! He wants us to trust Him and come to Him with our cares and concerns. He is a refuge for us. Oh if we could remember this truth throughout our day as we scurry about with all our busy tasks. It’s easy to rush around in our own strength and power trying to get everything accomplished while forgetting that our Loving Heavenly Father invites us to look to Him for patience, wisdom and help.

I’m reminded of a little toddler who has just learned to buckle herself into her own car seat. Every time mommy tries to help, the toddler screams, “No! I can do it myself!” It can be exasperating as a parent to hear those words, but how often are we saying them to God? “I’ll do it myself!” Gently, lovingly our Gracious God is holding out His hand and saying, “Come to me. I will be your refuge and strength.”

Let’s melt into His arms and feel His loving embrace. No matter what we have done, His amazing grace beckons us to Him. The Bible says God loves us with an everlasting love. His love, unlike human love, is perfect and sweet, deep and abiding. So join me fellow moms, in pouring out our hearts before Him, knowing He loves us with a redeeming love.

Dear Lord, praise you that you are a God of grace and mercy. You know all things and can do all things, and you care about me. Thank you for your amazing love and grace toward me through Jesus. I trust you. I pour out my heart to you. Help me in my home to graciously love my family as you graciously love. Forgive me, for I know I mess up. Thank you for your redeeming love. A time comes in your life when you finally get it
when, in the midst of all your fears and insanity,
you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the
voice inside your head cries out...ENOUGH!
Enough fighting and crying and blaming and
struggling to hold on. Then, like a child quieting
down after a tantrum, you blink back your tears and
begin to look at the world through new eyes.

This is your awakening.

You realize it's time to stop hoping and waiting for
something to change, or for happiness, safety and
security to magically appear over the next horizon.
You realize that in the real world there aren't always
fairy tale endings, and that any guarantee of "happily
ever after" must begin with you... and in the process
a sense of serenity is born of acceptance.

You awaken to the fact that you are not perfect and that
not everyone will always love, appreciate or approve of
who or what you are and that's OK. They are entitled
to their own views and opinions.

You learn the importance of loving and championing yourself
and in the process a sense of new found confidence is born
of self-approval. You stop complaining and blaming other
people for the things they did to you - or didn't do for you
and you learn that the only thing you can really count on
is the unexpected. You learn that people don't always say
what they mean or mean what they say and that not everyone

"consumer" looking for your next fix. You learn that principles
such as honesty and integrity are not the outdated ideals of a
bygone era, but the mortar that holds together the foundation
upon which you must build a life.

You learn that you don't know everything, it's not your job
to save the world and that you can't teach a pig to sing.
You learn that the only cross to bear is the one you choose
to carry and that martyrs get burned at the stake. Then you
learn about love. You learn to look at relationships as
they really are and not as you would have them be.

You learn that alone does not mean lonely. You stop trying to
control people, situations and outcomes. You learn to
distinguish between guilt and responsibility and the
importance of setting boundaries and learning to say NO.

You also stop working so hard at putting your feelings aside,
smoothing things over and ignoring your needs. You learn that
your body really is your temple. You begin to care for it and
treat it with respect.

You begin to eat a balanced diet, drink more water, and take more time to exercise. You learn that being tired fuels doubt, fear, and uncertainty and so you take more time to rest. And just as food fuels the body, laughter fuels our soul. So you take more time to laugh and to play. You learn that, for the most part, you get in life what you believe you deserve, and that much of life truly is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

You learn that anything worth achieving is worth working for and that wishing for something to happen is different than working toward making it happen. More importantly, you learn that in order to achieve success you need direction, discipline and perseverance.

You also learn that no one can do it all alone, and that it's OK to risk asking for help. You learn the only thing you must truly fear is fear itself. You learn to step right into and through your fears because you know that whatever happens you can handle it and to give in to fear is to give away the right to live life on your own terms.

You learn to fight for your life and not to squander it living under a cloud of impending doom. You learn that life isn't always fair, you don't always get what you think you deserve and that sometimes bad things happen to unsuspecting, good people and you learn not to always take it personally. You learn that nobody's punishing you and everything isn't always somebody's fault. It's just life happening. You learn to admit when you are wrong and to build bridges instead of walls.

You learn that negative feelings such as anger, envy and resentment must be understood and dealt with in a healthy manner or they will suffocate the life out of you and poison the universe that surrounds you.

You learn to be thankful and to take comfort in many of the simple things we take for granted, things that millions of people upon the earth can only dream about: a full refrigerator, clean running water, a soft warm bed, a long hot shower.

Then, you begin to take responsibility for yourself by yourself and you make yourself a promise to never betray yourself and to never, ever settle for less than your heart's desire. You make it a point to keep smiling, to keep trusting, and to stay open to every wonderful possibility. You hang a wind chime outside your window so you can listen to the wind.

Finally, with courage in your heart, you take a stand, you take a deep breath, and you begin to design the life you want to live as best you can.

Just Add a Pinch of Salt: Recipes for a Cleaner Home
We all know salt is delicious, and was one of our earliest preservatives, but did you know it can help you around the house, too? Here are just a few tips on cleaning with salt:

• Pour a bit of salt, followed by a few cups of boiling water down your kitchen drain once a week to prevent clogs or unpleasant smells.

• Greasy pan? Scour it with some salt and a paper towel before washing.

• Salt can remove grease from clothing, too. Just pour some salt on a fresh grease spot on to soak up some of the grease. Then gently scrub some more salt into the fabric and rinse before washing.

• Salt is a great way to remove coffee stains from pots and mugs.

• A paste of vinegar and salt can add shine to old copper pans and molds.

• Salt makes a great rust remover for getting bicycles moving again in the spring, or refreshing worn household objects. Make a paste using three parts salt to one part lemon juice.

• When your child is sick, salt can help clean up messy accidents. Sprinkle salt over the “throw up” and let it sit for five minutes to help absorb the wetness and the odor.

• Salt will also remove fishy smells from counters, cutting boards and refrigerator shelves.

• Soaking new pantyhose in saltwater can help prevent runs.

• Pour salt over a grease fire to smother it quickly.

Update on Baby Ryan

Saw Jenn today and she told me that Ryan is doing much much better. His color is really good. Saw more photos of Ryan today, he was looking so much better. Ryan's sister and brother were able to hold him today.

I went over to Chris and Jenn's today and visited while my husband helped Chris work on one of his vehicles. Finally was well enough to hold Kaylee...love being a grandmother or as I am called (Nana)....love it love it love it!!!!!

Hope everyone is having a really nice weekend...the weather isn't bad here, but can't wait till it warms up even more next week.

Ryan Thomas has arrived!

Yesterday on St. Patty's Day "Ryan Thomas" arrived in the world by emergency C-Section. He is however being treated for Meconium Aspiration & Pneumothorax. Mommy is very very sad and crying alot because the nurses won't let her hold her baby. They told her they didn't want him to be upset!!!! WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN, I ask!!!! Today while I was standing there outside the nursery, watching the nurse with baby Ry, she sneezed a really big sneeze in HER HAND, THEN WIPED HER NOSE WITH HER FINGER....and continued working on the baby without even washing her HANDS!!!! Don't think I didn't walk right down to the nurses station and inform them of what I just saw....Here is how that went...."I said, the nurse down in the nursery taking care of the baby....Nurse says, what baby...I said the ONLY BABY THAT IS DOWN IN THE NURSERY.....and she says again, what baby...I say, Baby Ryan....and she says again, what baby, we have alot of babies on this floor....I said very calmly, The baby in the oxygen tent.....Oh yeah she says so what....I said the nurse just sneezed in her hand then wiped her nose and continued to work on him....the nurse looks at me and says "Oh, that isn't good, I will have a talk with her!" DO YOU BELIEVE THIS CRAP!!!!

Any how, I just received a call from my Jenn telling me that they discharged Ryan and her and that they were on their way to Buffalo Children's Hospital. The people from Children's couldn't beleive that Jenn hadn't even been able to hold her baby yet, so they let her and Tom hold him....let me tell you...what a difference that made for both Jenn Tom and Baby Ryan. Jenn said the baby calmed right down...well of course he did...all he wanted was his mommy...What is wrong with hospitals today. Can you tell I'm heated over this, cause I am...but am very happy that Jenn and Baby Ry on going to be in good hands!

Baby Ryan is so cute as is Baby Kaylee whom was born on 02/27/2009...now him and little Kaylee will surely get to play together as they grow up. Kaylee is the fourth and Ryan makes for the fifth grandbaby for us...We are really excited to welcome these two beautiful gifts from God into our lives.....hope to be really busy this summer, playing with all the grand-children...I can't wait to hold them I haven't been able to hold either one yet cause of being sick, but am feeling much much better now.

Happy Birthday to our friend Brian...Hope your day has been a great one. Mike and I will see you later.

Jenn was released from the hospital on Sunday. She is feeling stronger and would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers. The baby is doing good too! The nurse said he is probably going to weigh in around 7 to 8lbs. God willing when "Ryan Thomas" starts to try to come into the world the nurse are not going to stop him, they only had to before because of Jenn having phneumonia so badly. So we are all getting excited for his arrival.

Little Kaylee Lynn is doing great. Daddy says he gets up in the night with her to feed her so Mommy doesn't have to get up. He is such a great daddy. He says she sleeps really good. Mommy is doing good too. I think Little Kaylee is going to look just like her Mommy....and as beautiful!

Well can't stay online long have lots to do...but will be online much later tonite or tomorrow...want to put up the announcement card and photo frame I made for Baby Kaylee. It is so cute. Everyone have a great day...Oh and I am feeling much better too!

The Good & the Bad!

Hi everyone,
Well, the 27th of February brought us the sweetest little bundle of Joy...yep, "Kaylee Lynn" was born at 12:02pm, weighing 6lbs.5oz. and is 20in. She is beautiful, and Mommy, Daddy and big brother are ecstatic to say the least. I will get scrapbooks made for sure and giveaways as well just won't be for a couple of weeks.

My daughter Jenn as I told you in my last post on her birthday wasn't feeling so well and had pheumonia. Well she did go to the emergency room after her last day of work on the 24th, yes she worked the whole day...the one hospital wanted her to take pain pills and she refused them cause she thought it would hurt the baby...then they took her down and xrayed her agaisnt her wishes. Well she left that hospital and went across town to anothe hospital and they admitted her and told her the babys heartbeat was really low so they monitored the baby and hooked Jenn up to an IV and administered anti-biotics. Couple hours later they released her.

Feb 24th: Two days later Jenn calls me crying she is at home and tells me she thinks she is in labor and is going back out to the hospital. I said okay I will meet you out there. Well we get there and sure enough she has phuemonia...dah..you diagnosed her two days ago...is what I was thinking among other things which wouldn't be too nice to jot down right now..anyhow, the stress test on the baby showed she wasn't having contractions, I believe that is crap, Jenn wouldn't even of come to the hospital if it weren't for here thinking about the baby. I believe the baby saved her life by getting her there. Jenna said herself, Mom I didn't even want to get out of bed, eat, go to the bathroom or anything, I just wanted to stay in bed!" Jenn was crying too because she thought from coughing so much that she might have broken a rib...They admitted her and Jenn is on oxygen, taking breathing treatments, on a high dose of anti-biotics which may or may bot be working for her they aren't really sure at this point....and they are pushing the food (soft foods) on her. Well today the 28th of Feb they have confirmed, she had indeed broken two of her ribs and they can't do anything for her due to the baby. Her pheumonia has settled in her right lung and even though the baby wants to come they can't let him because Jenn isn't strong enough to make it through the C-section....Today they took a sonagram of the baby and he is between 7 and 8 lbs, doing alright, just alittle cramped they said. Their main concern right now is Jenn and getting her better. I know her and the baby are in God hands He will keep her and the baby safe. I am going back out to the hospital in a little while to sit with her and do what I can to help her. Only one thing really concerned me and that was the nurse came in yesterday with a flu shot for Jenn, said her Dr. had ordered it up...something came over me and I butted in where I probably had no right to and told Jenn I don't think you should take that...why now would they give her a flu shot...she is so sick, I have had two flu shots in my life and let me tell you I would rather of had the flu...so anyhow, she didn't take the flu shot at least not at this time. I do so hope it was the right call to make. I am pretty sure in my heart of hearts it was. I never second guess myself.

Happy Birthday Jenna..

I wanted to get out my birthday wishes to my daughter Jenna before I go over to see here. She is eight months pregnant and so very sick. We seemed to have caught this bug/flu at the same time. What ever it is sure isn't pretty/nice to have. Feels like a truck came by and ran you over a few times.

BEWARE: For everyone out there who downloads, be aware of a "digital virus" going around, they say it comes somewhere from the UK. Not sure of the damages it can cause but from reading alot of post from different readers it's damages are very bad, very very bad! So keep up with your Anti-virus software and your Windows Updates.

For everyone out there who has caught this bug/flu, my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you and my wish for a speedy recovery too! God Bless Everyone!

My Deepest Sympathy...

My Deepest Sympathy to all of the families and friends of the crash victims of "Continental Flight 3407." This area has never had a fatallity when it comes to the airways. We are all saddened by what occured at 10:20pm Thursday night in Clarence Center, NY. I send my prayers and condolences to all who have lost a loved one or friend.

Wow February Already!

Wow..What a SuperBowl that was..I just love a game when it is exciting to watch..and I am not even a football lover..go figure...Congratulations STEELERS!

This last week sure did go fast as most of them do...but I did manage to take care of my grand-children for the week, get them off to school and pick them up again...my daughter had to go to Rochester with her husband for the week. Right before they were ready to come home, he started to get really sick. Had a really high fever so she took him to Strong Memorial in Rochester. Come to find out he had a staph infection in his leg and Mirsa..they ended up cutting this hole in his leg were the infection was and gave him antibiotics. They admitted him to the observation ward for three days. Then just the other day my daughter had to take him back to the hospital here in the Falls. Guess he had an allergic reaction to the anit-biotics. He is home now on the mend. My daughter has been working double shifts lately and the baby is getting so big. I know she will be really glad when March gets here. That is when the baby is due. So let me tell you again, "What a week it has been!"

I did however find time to make some February/Valentine Freebies for you. I made a Valentine Day Card/Brag Book however you want to look at it...and some February Wallpaper...Hope you like them. Just remember they are for "Personal Use Only" I see that there have been over 5000 downloads of my creations and only a handful of "Thank You's!' I was hoping to get alot more feedback then that. As with all of the other creators of freebies we kind of look forward to someone saying, Thank's, that was really nice of you to think of us...ect. I am going to take the links off of the 2007 and 2008 larger folders of my freebies here soon so hurry and pick them up. Have to make room for the new ones coming.

Hope this New Year brings everyone many blessings and a renewed hope! We have many blessings to be Thankful for and I look forward to this new year, for we are expecting our 4th grandchild next month and our 5th grandchild the month after...I can't wait...what "gifts from God" a child is!

I was watching a program the other day on PBS...what a show it was...Dr. David W. Dyer was the speaker...How Inspirational...I couldn't stop watching the show! He has a book out called "Inspiration...Your Calling", I can't wait to purchase it...In case you don't know the channel the website is here: PBS He has an awesome deal if you contribute to supporting the station. My other all time favorite "Inspirational Speaker" would of course be Joel Olsteen! I could sit and listen to him without ending.

I hope you have enjoyed my gifts and I hope that you will keep coming back for more this year...I know that many have downloaded my QP's, I just wish you could have let me know which ones you liked the best...or what kind you would rather have...and if they aren't as large as they should be....please let me know...and I will make them larger for you and just upload them to 4shared again...Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Life sure is moving fast...isn't it? First and foremost I want to send my thoughts and prayers to all those in the South, SouthEastern States with all these hurricanes, one right after another. Also not sure if I mentioned it but we have two more grandchildren on the way...Our daughter and daughter-n-law are both due around the same time...We are soooo excited...I also have been making wallpaper for the up-coming holiday..."Halloween"...I love making them...I have two of them for you today!
